Melinda Dillon will always be remembered for her work in “A Christmas Story” and “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” by me. In both films, she showed us the traits and characteristics that make up being a good Mother. The humor displayed in “A Christmas Story” shines, while her caring and drive to save her child from an alien abduction in “CE3K” gives us two very different sides of being a Mother. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. RIP Melinda Dillon – I will definitely eat my meatloaf !

Melinda Dillon was an angel. She was everyone’s mom in A Christmas Story. She also was very generous in her support of my efforts for the Police Unity Tour, a bicycle ride honoring fallen officers. I have a letter from her where she said she’d love to have lunch with me if I ever got to the west coast. Sadly, that lunch will now never take place. Rest in Peace Melinda…. You did great in this life and your legacy will live on forever.
